Football Rhule says he's "part of the problem" if he ponders bowl berth

Good stuff from Rhule today.

Some are thinking about a potential bowl berth. Not Rhule. And he wants his players thinking like that, too.

Volleyball Nebraska Volleyball: No. 2 Huskers improve to 18-0 in sweep of Northwestern

A dominant sweep for the Huskers, but they received some bad news in the buildup to this match. Hit the link.

Volleyball Game Thread FINAL: No. 2 Nebraska 3, Northwestern 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-21)

No. 2 Nebraska is in Chicago to take on Northwestern for its first midweek game since the Stanford match on Sept. 12. It's a big match for the Huskers who have No. 1 Wisconsin on Saturday, so it's important for NU not to look too far ahead against a team who pushed Nebraska to five sets last season.

First serve is set for 7 p.m. on Big Ten Plus.

Unfortunately, the headline news ahead of this match is the injury bug that has bitten both teams coming into tonight. John Baylor revealed on HRN that Lindsay Krause twisted her ankle yesterday during practice and is out indefinitely. She's in a boot and crutches, but is still traveling with the team. On the flip side, Northwestern will be without its best player in B1G Player of the Year contender and Santa Clara transfer Julia Sangiacomo who's averaging 4.11 kills per set. She injured her knee and is out for the foreseeable future.

That changes a lot for both teams. Ally Batenhorst will ge the start at L2 in place of Krause while sophomore Rylen Reid will start for NW. Here's a more in-depth breakdown of the Wildcats that was released this morning:

Recruiting Huskers lock in official visit with Texas pass rusher for this weekend

The Huskers offered a scholarship to Texas defensive end Jaxon Lee on Monday. I spoke with him tonight and he told me that he will be taking an official visit this weekend for the matchup with Northwestern.

"The thing I'd say I'm most looking forward to is just being in that atmosphere," Lee said. Getting to learn about and talk to the coaches and finding out more about their programs and what I'm going to major in."

Lee's got a good head on his shoulders and wants to major in electrical, chemical or mechanical engineering. Omar Hales was who made the offer to him on Monday night during a conversation with the Texas native and his mom. After the call they were both happy that Lee's hard work is paying off.

Until recently Lee was committed to Texas Tech as a PWO but opened things up because he felt more opportunities were coming his way.

"I'm looking for pretty much just a family environment. One that I can just be around everybody and just immediately just have that relationship with everybody," Lee said. In six games this season, Lee has 8 TFLs and 7.5 sacks.

Volleyball Lindsay Krause twists ankle, no timetable for return

John Baylor revealed on the Huskers Radio Network that Nebraska's Lindsay Krause twisted her ankle yesterday in practice and is out indefinitely. There is no timetable for her return. She is on crutches and is traveling with the team.

Krause has been the L2 starter alongside Harper Murray for most of the season. The Omaha native has been on a tear as she hit .300 or above in five of the last six matches. It's been an unfortunate season for Krause as she missed three games after being involved in a hit-and-run accident following the Huskers' win over Stanford in early September. Ally Batenhorst will get the start tonight. Nebraska has the depth to offset the loss of Krause, but it's a loss nonetheless.

Additionally, Northwestern is without its best player in B1G Player of the Year candidate Julia Sangiacomo who is averaging 4.11 kills per set.

Football Goal-line stand showed Tony White the Blackshirts are capable of anything

Good stuff from Tony White today on what that goal-line stand at Illinois meant.

“When they do it on the grass in front of everybody, the validation and the confidence, you see it right then and there,” White said. “When they ran off the sideline on that, you felt like they can do anything tonight.”

off topic thread, mornings...

Just trying to get motivated to work, I don't know why we start so early most days. I struggle to find any sort of motivation early in the day. I know management knows about these struggles, so why do we arbitrarily start so early?

As a business owner, one would think that having an effective team that gets shit done, would be more important than starting early.

I usually don't get into a normal state of mind until around 10 am, that's when I notice the anger from the morning dissipate, until then I experience what I refer to as "hot head". Additionally, I can't be bothered to sell anything until around 10, I can't talk to people early in the day, I get very weird.

Does anyone else experience this struggle? Why does management waste resources?

I should add that for the all the talk about his commitment being solid or not, here is what Lacy said to me after the Michigan game visit:

"It was a great experience," Lacy said. "I feel great about next year and my class coming in. I can’t wait to work and build the program back up."
