LINCOLN — Shortstop Steven Reveles says he's set to return for one more year with the Nebraska baseball program. He tweeted Thursday that his application for a medical hardship waiver has been approved.
Reveles appeared in just 16 games as a senior in 2015, sidelined by a hamstring injury and a broken bone on his throwing hand. The NCAA rulebook states that players can receive an extra season of eligibility if an injury or illness keeps them from appearing in more than 30 percent of their teams' games.
The former junior college transfer is a career .260 hitter in 70 games as a Husker, scoring 43 runs and tallying 15 doubles. He's also a skilled defender and a noted team leader. Reveles will be Nebraska's expected starter at shortstop in 2016.
