This is why we lose. Coaching not to lose. Players lacking situational awareness. Panic when the game is close. Not finding that little bit extra. Attention to detail at every level, starting with practice. Lack of focus in key technical areas. Players not holding each other accountable.

This is why we need a culture game changer hire first and foremost. Everything else is secondary to that.

Coaches coach to win. They also coach the players they have and clearly know what they are capable of. It does no good to have a game plan that Brady could implement if you don't have a Brady to do it.

This team is clearly lacking of talent in some key areas. We lost at least 2 OL early or before the season stated and we complain about them. Imagine that.

In spite of what some think, people cannot play above their ability no matter what people think goes on in their heads and with the culture. I actually think part of culture must be pretty good to keep coming back each week and giving great effort, they are simply over matched.

Some truth in your take. The other part of the equation is awful coaching decisions and complete lack of discipline at the worst times. Example: even after Wisconsin scores their first TD, they make a Husker-like mistake and get called for unsportsmanlike conduct, 15 yard penalty on the kickoff. Huge for the Huskers, as they are going into the wind. Simple return up the sideline gets them out near the 35. NOPE. Huskers get called for holding on a return that didn’t need it, and we start another series backed up. It’s critical errors at the worst times that prevent this program from winning very-winnable games.

It is a self-fulfilling prophecy. They expect bad things to happen…and bad things do! They are not winners because winners don’t think like that.

There is a divide because players that transferred in don’t necessarily think like that but they do not make up the majority of the team.

That is why it is best to flush the majority of the players on the roster and infuse fresh mindset. Most of what is there are conditioned to believe they cannot win.

Many coaches coach not to lose. You saw it Saturday. There is a difference and part of that difference is culture. You can say we need better recruiting all day long but we have better classes than anyone in the west. You don’t lose 25 one score games and go 1-13 in the last run because you lacked a recruit. You lose like that because you don’t know how to win.
