Probably 60 to 70 % you could get for weed at any time. Probably same amount for steroids or HGH. A player recently said if they did a surprise test during the season teams wouldn't be able to field a full team that week.

I could be wrong, but I think PED testing is random. The drug tests are known in advance, however.

I spoke to a former teammate and NFLer asking how widespread PED and steroid use was in the league. He said a majority of the guys are on something, most commonly test or hcg. The risk of only 4 games in minimal compared to not doing it and getting cut from the league. Most players know the testing cycles and can plan accordingly. Some of these random ones are just unlucky guys getting caught. The players apologize, teams don't care, and they move on with life.

Most NFL footballers that do roids would fail an Olympic level roid test. The NFL allows them to carry a higher testosterone level than a normal male, even higher than Olympians.

The majority of them aren't on juice guys...they are just too dumb and lazy to call the Supplement Hotline (NFL specific) where they can tell you if a product is okay to take or not. That can be a product anyone can buy at their local GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. Taking a certain pre-workout powder with some banned substances in it is not the same as sticking a needle in your butt.
